{"id":49848,"date":"2025-09-09T06:15:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T04:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theark.ch\/?p=49848"},"modified":"2025-09-09T14:03:59","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T12:03:59","slug":"artificial-intelligence-idiap-announces-the-winners-of-the-14th-edition-of-its-hackathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theark.ch\/en\/news\/artificial-intelligence-idiap-announces-the-winners-of-the-14th-edition-of-its-hackathon\/","title":{"rendered":"artificial intelligence: idiap announces the winners of the 14th edition of its hackathon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">after nine days of hacking, the idiap research institute has revealed the winners of the 14th edition of the idiap create challenge (icc), its flagship hackathon dedicated to artificial intelligence (ai). organized in partnership with the ark foundation, the event was held from august 21 to 29 at idiap\u2019s premises in martigny, switzerland.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>throughout the competition, teams immersed themselves in the world of ai, supported by idiap\u2019s r&amp;d engineers and inspired by previous winners who, like david imseng of <a href=\"https:\/\/recapp.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recapp it<\/a> and matthieu saussaye of <a href=\"https:\/\/pulse-partners.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pulse partners<\/a>, went on to transform their project into thriving businesses established in valais. experts from the canton and the ark foundation also shared their insights, helping participants to better understand the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>far more than a competition, the icc offered participants a complete experience: coding sessions, workshops, and even the discovery of the region during idiap\u2019s annual team outing \u2013 combining ai with the spirit of valais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>this year\u2019s submissions showcased outstanding creativity, spanning from ai partners for musical improvisation and digital platforms supporting new mothers\u2019 mental health, to automated powerpoint generation tools, drone-enabled rescue solutions in natural environments, genetic testing for optimized medical treatments and intelligent systems that manage energy consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idiap.ch\/en\/innovation\/idiap-create-challenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">idiap create challenge<\/a> is always full of surprises! teams are incredibly motivated and it\u2019s amazing to see what they can accomplish in just a few days\u2014especially with the latest ai tools at their fingertips\u201d shares jo\u00ebl dumoulin, technology transfer officer and member of the interim management team at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idiap.ch\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">idiap<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cwe were impressed by the diversity of the projects and the quality of the ideas developed during this edition. the ark foundation is delighted to continue collaborating to support the development of these ideas and helping to turn them into both commercial and technological successes!\u201d mentions fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric bagnoud, secretary general of the ark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">two prizes were awarded this year<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>the idiap-ideark prize, valued at 15,000 francs, was awarded to the synthia team \u2013 fabio fehr, karl el hajal, and laurent colbois (idiap) \u2013 for their project \u201cai band member,\u201d which proposes an ai partner for musical improvisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the \u201cai for society\u201d prize, sponsored by oiken and worth 10,000 francs, went to the hestia team, composed of elona dekeuwer (heds la source) and vincenzo pallotta (heig-vd), for their project focused on supporting new mothers\u2019 mental health: \u201cai companion to support new mothers&#8217; mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cthrough the ai for society award, oiken aims to highlight innovations that are both pragmatic and technically feasible. this year, we selected hestia, a project that leverages ai to support the mental health of new parents. this choice reflects oiken\u2019s strategic vision: using ai to assist and empower our employees, while enhancing their daily lives with practical, meaningful solutions\u201d explains julien depreux, innovation project manager and ai deployment lead at <a href=\"https:\/\/oiken.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">oiken<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>with fourteen successful editions to date, the idiap create challenge continues to establish itself as a unique springboard for ai talent \u2014 an event where ai innovation meets entrepreneurship<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>source :<\/strong> press release<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>the winners of the 14th idiap create challenge (icc) have been announced.
